Opening by the Emir of Kuwait
A special botanical greenhouse, complete with different climate zones, was opened by none other than the Emir of Kuwait.
53°C outside. A perfectly controlled climate inside.
Located within the grounds of the Emir's Bayan Palace, Bayan Botanic Garden is one of the most remarkable botanical garden projects in the Middle East. The development covers almost 16,000 m² and includes our 3,500 m² botanical glasshouse designed to create ideal growing conditions despite outdoor temperatures that can exceed 53°C.
The result is a controlled botanical environment in which species from a wide variety of regions can thrive, despite one of the world's most challenging climates, and which is also enjoyable for visitors.
Four climate zones in the desert
Creating the right environment for plants from all corners of the world can be challenging. In Kuwait, where temperatures can vary by up to 20°C in a single day, this requires advanced climate control. In the curved greenhouse, temperature, humidity and airflow are carefully regulated to support tropical, arid, Mediterranean and European plant collections, while ensuring visitor comfort all year round.
Six themed gardens under one roof
The botanical glasshouse brings together six themed gardens and four distinct climate zones within a single visitor destination. Guests move through contrasting botanical environments, experiencing plant species from different continents in one continuous journey. Designed for exhibitions, official receptions and business meetings, the project combines botanical excellence, visitor experience and iconic glass architecture.
Expert in botanical greenhouses
Thanks to our expertise, we have also built greenhouses for the Keukenhof, Hortus Botanicus in Leiden, Inverewe Gardens and RHS Garden Wisley, in addition to this well-known botanical garden.
We are currently constructing an enormous greenhouse for the botanical garden in Gothenburg. These are often special constructions that, in addition to their striking design, also require specific climate control for the rare plant collections.
