Construction will take place in phases

Together with main contractor Peab, we will start the first construction phase at the end of 2024. During this phase, the botanical greenhouse and part of the greenhouses will be built. After completion, the special plants will be moved here, after which the old greenhouses will be demolished. The final phase, the construction of the remaining greenhouses, will then commence.

4,000 different plant species

The current greenhouses, built in 1981, face challenges in terms of climate, working environment and accessibility. The new building will be an innovative and sustainable greenhouse that meets the highest standards for plant collections and educational programmes. More than 4,000 plant species will flourish here, including Sweden's largest collection of tropical orchids and the rare Easter tree.

Functionality and Sustainability

The new greenhouses, with varying heights of up to 17.5 metres, have a modern and efficient design, focused on sustainability and environmental responsibility. These smart technical solutions and environmentally friendly working methods will improve both the functionality and quality of Gothenburg's botanical garden.

Göteborgs botaniska trädgård

Göteborgs botaniska trädgård is the largest botanical garden in Sweden and one of the most important gardens in Europe. The botanical garden covers a total area of 75 hectares. Given the complexity of this project, we were chosen because we have built several challenging projects for well-known botanical gardens, such as Flora Köln, RHS Wisley and Hortus Botanicus.
