Innovative Atrium for Education & Research
On the PTI campus in Kortrijk, we are constructing an innovative atrium for research and education measuring approximately 2,290 m².
| Place | Kortrijk, Belgium |
| Realisation | 2025/2026 |
| Type | Venlo construction |
| Surface | 2.290 m2 |
| Assignment | Glass construction for education, research and horticulture |
Education & Innovation in One Space
The glass atrium serves as a knowledge centre. Working, experimenting and learning go hand in hand here. Separate workspaces next to the greenhouse guarantee hygiene and flexibility, ideal for both educational activities and practical greenhouse cultivation. In the practical areas, students are taught subjects such as sustainable horticulture, aquaculture and vertical farming. Access to the campus is through the entrance of the two-storey greenhouse, with its high sliding doors and a shop selling locally produced food.
State-of-the-art design
Architect Van Bergen Kolpa designed the building in collaboration with Sileghem & Partners, and it is being constructed by main contractor Monument Van de Kerckhove, in collaboration with Smiemans Projecten. The design includes state-of-the-art solutions such as vertical farming, aquaculture and preparation for future-oriented technologies such as AI and robotics.
Energy efficiency & environmental awareness
Sustainability is central to this project: the atrium will be equipped with solar panels, a heat coupling system, LED lighting, CO₂ dosing and underground water collection. This approach ensures a robust and energy-efficient indoor climate.
Our Added Value
With EdenParks, you get strategic advice that goes beyond construction alone: from feasibility to delivery, we guide the entire process with an eye for detail, innovation and future-proofing. As with Campus Kortrijk, EdenParks has also contributed to prestigious glass and greenhouse constructions in education and research. Examples include Campus Riedberg (Goethe University), the World Horti Centre and botanical gardens such as RHS Garden Wisley and Inverewe Heritage Gardens.
