Arched glasshouse for Landesgartenschau 2020
In Überlingen, an arched greenhouse designed by EdenParks was constructed by Smiemans Projecten for the Landesgartenschau 2020. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the national garden show was postponed by one year. The HighLight arched greenhouse will be delivered turnkey.
Exhibition space for national garden show
The Landesgartenschau was organised in Überlingen in 2021. This national garden show takes place from 30 April to 17 October of that year. For this purpose, Smiemans Projecten, of which EdenParks is a part, built an exhibition space in the west of the city. The HighLight arched greenhouse was delivered turnkey. On top of the technical and facility space, a place for visitors has been created, giving them a good view of the plant collection.

The project designed by EdenParks fulfils two purposes: first, as a meeting place and pavilion during the Landesgartenschau 2021. Second, after the event, as a permanent facility for mainly cacti.
Special collection of cacti
The town of Überlingen has a special collection of cacti, which is displayed in the historic town garden in summer and then overwintered in a plant house on the grounds of the Stadtgärtnerei. The construction and dismantling of this facility costs €45,000 annually.
In addition, there is the inevitable transport damage to the valuable plants. Furthermore, the cacti spend around seven months in the greenhouse, which is not accessible to the public. The construction of this plant house will eliminate the need for transport and allow the special cactus collection to be viewed all year round.
Six-hectare landscape park
In connection with the Landesgartenschau, the city has been working since 2016 on the construction of a six-hectare landscape park on the edge of Lake Constance. This park will offer many opportunities for sports and recreation. Throughout the city, which is also celebrating its 1250th anniversary, there will be many events organised during the 179 days of the Landesgartenschau.

Thanks to our expertise, we have also built greenhouses for Keukenhof, Hortus Botanicus in Leiden, Inverewe and RHS Wisley, in addition to this well-known botanical garden. We are currently constructing an enormous greenhouse for the botanical garden in Gothenburg.
