Design and construction of pavilion for the Netherlands
The World EXPO, the world-famous exhibition that takes place every five years at a different location, was held in Milan in 2015. EdenParks was commissioned to design and construct the pavilion for the Netherlands. As a result, it now ranks among other famous structures such as the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Atomium in Brussels.
The Netherlands is a leader in knowledge and innovation
In 2015, the theme of the EXPO was “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”. No fewer than 140 countries showcased their innovations in the field of healthy, safe and sufficient food. Naturally, the Netherlands was included in this list, as we are a world leader in knowledge and innovation in the food sector.
A circular building
EdenParks, part of Smiemans Projecten, had the honour of building the Dutch glass pavilion, as we have expertise in the field of public access buildings. We were also responsible for dismantling and relocating the pavilion to a destination yet to be determined, demonstrating that glass constructions are a circular project.
Voordelen van bouwen met glas doorslaggevend
De Stichting Holland World EXPO Milano 2015 koos voor de toepassing van onze glasconstructie vanwege de snelheid van het realiseren en de gunstige prijs. Verder is er de referentie met de glastuinbouw, wat voor Nederland een belangrijke pijler is. Het Nederlandse bedrijfsleven en voeding gerelateerde organisaties hielden in de kas presentaties, bijeenkomsten en diners in het paviljoen.
Optimaal binnenklimaat
Belangrijk was de temperatuur binnen het te bouwen paviljoen. Het mag er niet te warm worden en dat midden in de zomer in Milaan. Met diverse technieken zoals onder andere speciale polycarbonaat platen, warmtewerend glas en een geavanceerd koelsysteem zijn we erin geslaagd zoveel mogelijk een aangenaam klimaat te regelen.
