The Lake District in the northern part of England is a popular vacation destination for approximately already 200 years. Nowadays it is one huge National Park, with its very strict building regulations. In the middle of this district, nearby the beautiful Lake Windermere, is the big, spacious garden centre Hayes Garden World. The present owner, Richard Hayes (5th generation) succeeded to getting permission for a thorough refurbishment, to execute in the period between 2010-2012.

The design of the renowned designer Malcolm Scott was typical for us: there was no ready-made solution and there were extra calculations necessary. Finally the design was a bit revised, especially in view of the rainwater drainage. Because how wonderful the Lake District it is, it is also averagely the wettest part of England!
