"The Glasshouse", nursery greenhouses, technical areas and classrooms at Garden Wisley

In addition to the projects for clients such as Keukenhof, Floriade 2002 and botanical gardens in Leiden and Frankfurt, EdenParks completed a prestigious project at Wisley Garden near London: for the internationally renowned British Royal Horticultural Society. This project required a special educational glasshouse, which is now known as "The Glasshouse" and attracts more than 1 million visitors every year. EdenParks built the entire structure and installed and commissioned all the climate, mechanical and electrical services.

Magnificent classic-contemporary look

The HighLight system has been used here in a unique design: the maximum heights are more than 12.50 m and the total surface is more than 7,000 m². The typical rounded shapes give the glasshouse its magnificent classic-contemporary look. Everyone can enjoy, see, smell and feel the tropical and subtropical flowers and plants in “The Glasshouse”. Its setting is spectacular with a waterfall, rock formations, caves and a wealth of plants and trees.

Prosperous growth

The RHS experts in Wisley are very pleased with the prosperous growing and blossoming of all their exotic plants, partly because of the excellent lighting and climate conditions. The Wisley Glasshouse transforms every winter into a tropical paradise with more than 6,000 free-flying exotic butterflies. The butterflies feel right at home in our rainforest-like Tropical Zone. In addition to this showcase we also built nursery greenhouses, technical areas and classrooms using the more traditional Venlo glasshouse system.

Learning zone

Because educational activities are central, we have build a venlo next to The Glasshouse. Both the Learning Space and the Growing Lab enable visitors to learn more, get hands-on experience and see how professional glasshouse gardeners work. It is the home to both the The Clore Learning Centre and The Teaching Garden.
